Volunteer graphic designer needed to work on international campaign

INSP is looking for a volunteer graphic designer to assist with an international campaign. This year, for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (17th October), INSP is running a global campaign to raise awareness of the work of street papers. The campaign will take the form of a visual design (full magazine page) and an accompanying written feature.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Design the A4 visual campaign which will include images and some text. The concept will be decided on by INSP's staff and board
  • Recreate the design in landscape format
  • Create different language versions of the visual campaign (INSP will provide the translated text)
  • Provide design support to resize and edit the design according to the needs of different publications

This project will suit a creative graphic design student or freelance designer with strong skills in either InDesign or QuarkXPress. The designer will be required to use their own computer and software and will work independently as well as together with the INSP team. We are looking for someone with a flexible approach who is able to work to tight deadlines and has excellent attention to detail. The designer will work with INSP staff at our Glasgow office, initially face-to-face, and then by email to finalise the designs. The designer should be flexible and contactable by email throughout August to make formatting changes as requested by individual street papers.

BENEFITS:

This is a voluntary position but it is a great opportunity to be involved in a unique international campaign and it offers a fantastic work experience opportunity. The designer will be credited for their work on the campaign page on INSP's website and INSP can provide employment references. Local travel costs will be covered.

TIME COMMITTMENTS:

The designer should be available to start on Monday 26th July. The volunteer will be required to be available throughout August (2-5 hours per week, as needed) in order to achieve the aim of disseminating campaign adverts to INSP street papers by the beginning of September.

TO APPLY:

Send a CV and portfolio to Maree Aldam - m.aldam@street-papers.org by Monday 19th July.
